In recognition of its distinctive efforts in localizing workforce, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) has recently received an honorary award from the Council of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs in the GCC countries. The announcement was made at a ceremony honoring private sector companies during the opening of the 25th assembly of the Council of Ministers of Labor and Social Ain Doha. Saud Al-Sabban, chief executive officer of Human Resources at the National Commercial Bank, received the recognition from Dr. Yusuf Al-Uthaymeen, the Minister of Social Affairs. Al-Sabban said the honor is a source of pride to the bank as it represents an extension of the support the business sector receives from the governments of the GCC states. He said NCB considers the honor a culmination of the bank's leading role in Saudization and its concrete efforts in attracting, training and employing the Saudi workforce, which has reached 88 percent at present. The figure reached 91 percent in senior and middle management positions and 97 percent in the retail banking services, he added. Al-Sabban further said “Saudization is our strategic choice in developing national competence in the banking industry. It is one of our pillars in community service.” “The bank's realization of this advanced position in localizing jobs and winning this honorary status are the results of the continuous effort and definite strategy of the bank ... in order to develop its human resources,” he pointed out. Al-Sabban underscored the bank's sense of social responsibility and its leading role in promoting Saudization, in addition to its continuous development of local worforce skills through various mechanisms, including the allocation of funds toward social services, as well as supporting the higher learning institutions and the implementation of cooperative summer training programs for male and female students.
