ADNOC Distribution to check sale of LPG across Abu Dhabi
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 08 - 2015

ABU DHABI — In a bid to regulate the sale of subsidized LPG cylinders across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, ADNOC Distribution has invited customers to register for the free, pre-paid Rahal e-Gas cards by the deadline of Sept. 8 for eligibility to purchase subsidized LPG cylinders at ADNOC Distribution's network of service stations.
The move is in line with the UAE's vision to migrate all functions to smart platforms to ensure safer, easier and added convenience to customers in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
ADNOC Distribution has also set new monthly quotas for subsidized LPG cylinders purchased via the Rahal e-Gas scheme - AED150 for Emirati families and AED70 for Emirati single citizens. Monthly quotas for resident families have been set at AED70 and for expat single residents at AED40.
Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNOC Distribution: “At ADNOC Distribution, we are keen to introduce initiatives and services that comply with the UAE's vision of aligning administrative functions to smart interfaces. ADNOC Distribution's decision to regulate sale of LPG cylinders across the emirate of Abu Dhabi through Rahal e-Gas cards will ensure added convenience to our loyal customers.
“We invite all our customers and beneficiaries to register for the free, pre-paid Rahal e-Gas cards ahead of the deadline of 8 September if they wish to benefit from the subsidized rates and set quotas. Through this initiative, we aim to streamline the distribution of LPG cylinders to ensure that the benefits are cascaded to a larger number of customers given the rapid urban growth the emirate of Abu Dhabi continues to witness.”
ADNOC Distribution provides instant registration and issuance of Rahal e-Gas cards across all of its Rahal centers including ADNOC Distribution's Head Office in Abu Dhabi, Rahal centers at the Airport Road service station, Musaffah station and Khalifa City station, as well as the Al Ain Regional Office and Western Region center in Madinat Zayed. Customers can also apply for these cards at 98 service stations across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, which include 52 outlets in Abu Dhabi, 27 in Al Ain and 19 in the Western Region.
To apply for a five-year valid Rahal e-Gas card, Emiratis need to present the following documents: Emirates ID, original copy of Family Book (For UAE families only) and proof of residency (choice of one of the following documents proving they are residents of Abu Dhabi - either the latest copy of the water and electricity bill or a certificate or original copy of Tawtheeq.
Expats residents are entitled to a one year valid Rahal e-Gas card through presenting Emirates ID, original copy of spouse/child visa (for expat family only) and proof of residency (choice of one of the following documents proving they are residents in Abu Dhabi - either latest copy of water and electricity bill/certificate or original copy of Tawtheeq.
First time registration for Rahal e-Gas card is free. Modification of card data as well as replacement of lost and damaged cards will cost AED50. Rahal e-Gas card can only be used within the Abu Dhabi emirate service station network, while renewal can only be done at Rahal centers subject to valid application submission.
Customers are encouraged to use the online application via www.adnocdistribution.ae as a faster and more convenient way to get the card. Once the online application is completed and approved, customers will receive SMS to visit the nearest service station or Rahal Centre and collect the card by presenting original documents.
Non-beneficiaries whether individuals, families or companies can buy LPG cylinders by paying in cash, checks or via bank cards at non-subsidized rates.
Customers can use these cards to purchase subsidized gas from service stations with great convenience and efficiency.
ADNOC Distribution aims to restrict the sale of LPG cylinders for commercial customers through a specialized commercial sales division. The card will allow these businesses to buy LPG cylinders through licensed distributors in Abu Dhabi only. — SG
