The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is to put up for bids the project of the new Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madina through the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) system. The project involves the construction of terminals and the development of runways. The civil aviation authority is also working on the designs for the new Taif Airport the site of which has been determined and which will be built according to the latest specifications. It is also preparing to start digging the foundations of the development project of King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah that involves constructing a new terminal which will accommodate 30 million passengers every year with 42 gates and the capacity to receive 60 airplanes. The project will start by the end of January.
