RIYADH — A Saudi policeman was killed and two others were injured in an attack in the Eastern Province, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday. "One policeman was killed and two injured," a spokesman said. In a statement, police said two suspects were arrested after the patrol came under fire in Al-Jesh village of Qatif district late Tuesday. "The motive of the crime is not clear yet, and we are waiting for the investigation results," the spokesman said. Since late last year, the eastern region has been targeted by Daesh (the so-called IS) group. Authorities and analysts say the militants tried to ignite sectarian tensions in the Kingdom but failed. On successive Fridays in May suicide bombings at mosques in Eastern Province, one of them in Qatif, killed a total of 25 people. A Daesh-affiliated group calling itself Najd Province claimed those attacks as well as another suicide bombing that killed 26 people at a mosque in Kuwait last month. Since the bombings, local volunteers, backed up by police, have increased security in the Kingdom's east — With input from Agencies
