TAIF — The suspects who were arrested for harassing a girl outside a Taif mall claimed that their alleged victim had taken money from them before the incident, Al-Madinah newspaper reported. A video that wen viral on social media websites showed two men in their 20s chasing a girl who was walking outside the mall. “The young men wanted to enter the mall but the security guard prevented them because single men are not allowed there. They saw their victim approaching the shopping center and offered to pay her SR100 if she accompanied them in the mall,” a source quoted the men as saying. The source said the girl agreed and accepted the money but when they reached the mall's gate she told the security guard that she did not know them and that they should not be hanging around the shopping center. “The guys kept looking for another chance to get into the mall after the girl had betrayed them. After an hour, they spotted her coming out of the center. They approached her demanding their money back,” said the source. The source also said a passerby who spotted them molesting the girl took the video and posted it on the Internet. “The men saw him recording but they ignored him," the source said. "The youths refused to let the girl go, so another man approached them and asked them to leave her alone. He offered to pay them the money they had given to the girl,” said the source. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said Taif Police managed to arrest two harassers after identifying them from the video. “The police formed a committee to look into the video, which showed the girl being harassed and groped by the two young men,” said Al-Qurashi.
