RIYADH — A 32-year-old expatriate has contracted the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and has been admitted to a government hospital in Riyadh on Wednesday in a critical condition. The Ministry of Health said this was the first coronavirus case to be registered in the country since July 16. The ministry noted that the virus infection has receded during the holy month of Ramadan with only 13 cases detected in nine provinces. According to the ministry statistics, at least 462 people have died of MERS and 580 others have recovered since the virus was first discovered in the Kingdom in late 2012. The ministry said seven people are still under treatment in various hospitals.
