Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has urged the global community to help convince India to defuse the growing tension between the two countries. “We want to maintain cordial relations with all our neighbors,” he said. Gilani was talking to the newsmen in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto after laying floral wreaths on the graves of the former prime ministers of Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and, Benazir Bhutto, on Thursday. Gilani said that he would like to assure the world that Pakistan was not interested in engaging itself in a war with India. As a responsible country, he said, Pakistan was against terrorism and condemned such incidents. However, he added, Pakistan had the capability to defend itself against any foreign aggression. He said that if Pakistan were to receive incriminating evidence of any Pakistani involvment in the Mumbai attacks, an inquiry would be conducted by taking people of the country into confidence.
