RIYADH – Customs authorities at Dhiba Port on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle over 2.38 million amphetamine (Captagon) tablets. The drugs were stashed in consignments arriving at the Customs, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
Ali Al-Atawi, director general of customs at the port, said a consignment of thyme bags arrived by truck. Upon inspection, officials found the Captagon tablets hidden in thyme bags. The upper and lower layers of each bag contained thyme while the Captagon tablets were kept in the middle of the well-wrapped bags. Al-Atawi said necessary action has been taken against the smugglers.
Al-Atawi said smugglers always invent new methods to smuggle in such contraband and other substances. Alert officials, he said, have thwarted all their nefarious actions.
