Gang of car thieves busted in Jeddah By Ibrahim Alawi JEDDAH – Police on Wednesday closed in on a gang of four Asians and Africans car thieves led by a Sudanese mechanic, authorities said. The gang is suspected of making away with an undisclosed number of cars by smashing the backdoor windows to get in or forcing drivers out of their vehicles. They would strip the stolen vehicles and sell them in parts to junkyards. The police found engines and license plates at one of the gang member's garage. They were believed to be for vehicles they had stolen. He said 1,240 attempts to smuggle diesel and other petroleum derivatives were also foiled during the last three months. – Okaz/SG Old man asks for help and gets robbed By Ibrahim Al-Huthaifi MEKHWAT – Police here are searching for a man who embezzled SR40,000 from the bank account of an old man who sought help from him in paying his electricity bill via ATM. The son of 80-year-old Abdullah Al-Huthaifi discovered the embezzlement after realizing that his father was in possession of the wrong ATM card.
