The National Human Rights Society (NHRS) has prepared a study to entitle foreign husbands with Saudi wives the Saudi citizenship along with their children. The study will be submitted to the Shoura Council for review soon, said Suhaila Zain Al-Abideen, board member of the NHRS and chairperson of the research center at the society. Antiquated laws have created a social discrimination where the foreign husband and children of a Saudi wife may not enjoy free public education, health care in the Kingdom, and other privileges, she said. According to the law, foreign wives married to Saudi men, with the government consent, have a right to receive Saudi citizenship after their first born baby boy or second born baby girl. The foreign wife is, however, treated like a Saudi citizen during the marriage and the nationalization process as to get free education and health care. She also has the right to husband's pension in case of his death.
