There are certain habits that people tend to stick to during Ramadan, including buying Oud to fragrant their homes. Oud is used widely by people to give scent to their clothes, cars and even fridges. During Ramadan, women have a tendency to place Oud between the tufts of their hair and on their clothes to ensure the smell fills the air for a long time. Oud can be bought in wood, spray or oil form. Oud is derived from wood lute and tends to be black in color. The substance is known as Agar in India, Eagle Wood in English and Chen Xian in China. Oud is sorted by experts according to a standard color and weight, thereby creating several types. For example, Wood Double Super is black and heavy in weight. This is the best type and the most expensive. Then there is Wood Super which is less expensive and less in weight. There is also Wood Average which is brown in color rather than black. And the last is Wood Normal which is yellowy-brown and cheap in price. Cambodian Oud is the most expensive. A kilo costs around SR30,000 or more. Second is Kelmenta Oud which costs around SR20,000 and more. Indian Oud costs SR2,000 per kilo and above.. Oud lovers, however, still can find cheap Oud to use in Ramadan, including Dehn Oud Al-Sultan. One tola costs around SR120. Dehn White Oud costs around SR40 per tola.
