Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — The Civil Defense Force at the Grand Mosque rescued and provided first aid to over 300 Umrah pilgrims who suffered exhaustion or fainted in the Grand Mosque and the surrounding courtyards during the first half of the holy month of Ramadan. Lt. Col. Fahd Fehaidan Al-Nifei said the Civil Defense force in the Grand Mosque is well-equipped to provide urgent first aid. He said the Civil Defense Force in the Haram is stationed at 35 points inside and outside the Grand Mosque around the clock. Lt. Col. Al-Nifei said additional forces will be deployed to support the Civil Defense Force in the Grand Mosque at peak hours during the last 10 days of Ramadan. Their stations will be increased to over 50. They will also cover the new expansion projects for the Grand Mosque. He said there is full coordination between the Civil Defense force in the Haram, the Saudi Red Crescent, Public Security, Health Affairs and the other authorities concerned for the safety of Umrah pilgrims and worshipers.
