The artwork of disabled children from King Abdullah Center for Disabled Children will be auctioned at Laiylati Hall here on Dec. 28. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Princess Adelah Bint Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz said all preparations for the event – under the theme “Make their lives colorful” – have been made. The auction will be held under the patronage of Princess Latifa Bint Thunian Al-Saud with the participation of several businessmen in the male section and businesswomen and families of the diplomatic corps in the female section. Sixty pictures drawn by disabled children from King Abdullah Center will be auctioned. “Nine months of planning has gone into this event,” said Princess Adelah. During the auction, she said, disabled children are going to draw new on the spot pictures in both sections. Several Saudi volunteer artists will also be participating in the event to show their support for the cause of the disabled, she said. “Eman Al-Miniawi, Hana'a Hajjar, Kholood Al-Bugmi, and Princess Hiya Bint Abdullah Al-Saud are the volunteer artists who have participated in workshops with the disabled children for nine months to help them express their ideas more clearly with complete freedom,” added Princess Adelah. The artwork by disabled children contains patriotic themes – love for the country, preservation of Saudi traditions and culture, holy sites, and commemoration of the martyrs who laid down their lives fighting terrorists,” said Salwa Ali Al-Muhammadi, a senior official at the center.
