WHEN Barack Obama took over the White House, a number of preachers and religious scholars celebrated the occasion in a big way. The preachers and scholars were particularly overjoyed when they came to know that Obama was a descendant of a Muslim family in Kenya. They thought that he would enter the White House with his prayer rug and that he would honor them by inviting them to the US for his inauguration. They believed that the new American leader would ask for their help to spread the Islamic call through satellite TV channels, which would be especially created for them. The scholars thought the Muslim American president coming from Kenya would help them organize preaching programs in every corner of the country. Some of them even went too far to think that the Islamic Caliphate would resurface as a result of the serious and dedicated efforts of this president who is the first Muslim occupant of the White House. Our scholars were quick to be misled. They mistakenly thought that the leader of the only superpower in the world would help in the rebirth of Islam. In their day dreams and the false hopes they pinned on Obama, they thought for once that the White House would be the command and control center of the Muslim Caliphate. You may look into Google for a poem written by a famous preacher praising Obama who he called Mubarak Bin Hussain. This poem will show you how naive were these preachers to believe that America would be ruled by a Muslim president who would love Muslims and restore their past glory. The scholars who were overjoyed by the overwhelming victory of Obama proved to be not only simple but also superficial. They not only did pin high hopes on Obama but also worked hard to market him among themselves and their colleagues in other parts of the Muslim world. It is true that a "caliphate" has come during Obama's reign. This caliphate, however, was not established in Washington at the hands of Obama but in the heart of the Arab world by Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. We cannot deny Obama's role in the establishment of this extremist caliphate. In his time many miserable things happened, which were unprecedented. His reign, from beginning to end, was marred by destruction, devastation, false promises, doubt, marketing of illusions and conspiracies against Arab countries with the very aim of disintegrating them into small and ineffective states. We all remember Obama's enthusiastic speech at Cairo University. He promised to change the Arab world into a paradise for democracy, freedom, justice and human rights. Then came the Arab Spring that shattered all our dreams of democracy, freedom and equality. We discovered that Obama's administration has put all its weight to guide the Arab Spring revolutions toward the direction of its choice. While doing so, chaos spread. Extremist elements appeared. The result is what we see today. No previous US administration has created this much turmoil amongst us, as did the Obama administration. It has produced the worst kind of terrorism represented by Daesh, which is still spilling blood, expanding everywhere and hitting everyone. The Obama administration has constituted an imaginary alliance and is sitting idle watching the scene. During Obama's time, terrorism has become a state with boundaries, a legal system and currency. Our worst fears are that we may soon read the exchange rate of the dollar in the Daesh currency. Time may not be far when we may watch the launching of formal diplomatic relations between the US and the Daesh. Is this how it is going to end up, Mr. Mubarak Hussain?
