JEDDAH — Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Shaalan, commander of the Saudi Royal Air Force, died of heart attack on Wednesday while making an official trip outside the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting a statement from the Ministry of Defense. Al-Shaalan served the Royal Air Force in various capacities, including as deputy commander. King Abdullah appointed him as the commander on May 14, 2014, after promoting him to the rank of lieutenant general from major general. — SG
