BARCELONA — Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, who led the Catalan giant to the treble in his first campaign in charge, has agreed to extend his contract with the Spanish giant until June 2017. "We have sealed the renewal of Luis Enrique's contract until 2017, so we will have Luis Enrique for two more years," Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu told a news conference. Despite being under contract with Barcelona until June 2016, Enrique had consistently refused to tie his future to the club. "The truth is I don't know if I will continue (next season). The season isn't over yet, we have a long night ahead of us," he said Saturday before Barcelona's 3-1 Champions League final win over Juventus in Berlin. Enrique capped his first season as Barcelona's head coach by matching Pep Guardiola's feat from the 2008-09 season when the Catalans captured the European, Spanish league and cup titles. Alves agrees contract extension Barcelona defender Dani Alves has agreed a two-year contract extension to the end of the 2016-17 season with an option for a further year, the Spanish and European champion said Tuesday. Alves, a Brazil international, joined Barca from Sevilla in 2008 and has played a key role in a golden period for the Catalan club, winning 19 trophies including three Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles and three King's Cups. The 32-year-old has made 343 appearances and is one of seven players who won a treble of Europe's elite club competition and the domestic league and Cup in both 2008-09 and again in 2014-15. "I am really happy," Barca left back Jordi Alba told a news conference at Spain's training base outside Madrid Tuesday. — Reuters
