Brandon Roy scored a career-high 52 points, including a tiebreaking 3-pointer with a minute left, as the Portland Trail Blazers came back to beat the Phoenix Suns 124-119 in the NBA on Thursday. Roy was 14-of-27 from the field and 19-of-21 at the foul line as he far outstripped his previous best of 38 points set just last Friday. His scoring burst was the second best single-game output in Blazers' history. “This was the best game of my career,” Roy told reporters. “My confidence was huge and I felt like every shot I took was going to go in. This is just one of those nights you have to ride out.” The victory ended Portland's 11-game losing streak to Phoenix dating to March, 2006. Magic 90, Spurs 78: In Orlando, Florida, Jameer Nelson scored 24 points to lead Orlando over San Antonio, notching a seventh win from eight games. Dwight Howard had 14 points and 13 rebounds. He picked up his fifth foul halfway into the fourth quarter and went to the bench but the Magic had become accustomed to that as the All-Star center was sidelined for the past two games by a sore knee. Paul sets steal record New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul made NBA history by setting the record for consecutive games with a steal. Paul established the new mark by recording a steal in his 106th straight game on Wednesday to snap the previous record set by Alvin Robertson in 1986. The record fell against Robertson's old team, the San Antonio Spurs. With 3:05 on the clock in the second quarter of a 90-83 Hornets' win, Spurs forward Tim Duncan lost control of the ball under the Hornets' basket. Paul immediately picked up the loose ball, claiming the record as the local crowd honored Paul with a loud ovation.
