Saudi Gazette report MADINAH — Cleaning and maintenance staff at Taibah University have gone on strike over three months' unpaid wages, Al-Madina reported. One of the staff members said they tried filing official complaints to the university's cleaning and maintenance contractor. She said: “They would not respond to us and completely ignored us. Our salaries are not that much to begin and they have not paid us for three months. The end of the academic year has come and we refused to clean the university until we receive our salaries.” She added the university's surveillance cameras show the mess after only a few days of the strike action. “The university pays our employer huge amounts of money. They do not have a financial problem stopping them from paying us. “We all gathered on Al-Salam Road where the company's headquarters are and the police tried to negotiate with us because we were causing chaos on the road. We will not move until we receive our wages.” She also said the company must guarantee it will pay them on time in future as they all have families to support.
