Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 12 - 2008

Alex Ovechkin scored his second goal of the game with 10.7 seconds left in overtime as the surging Washington Capitals beat New York 5-4 on Tuesday, sending the Islanders to their seventh straight loss.
The Islanders managed to salvage a point thanks to third-period goals by Andy Sutton and Jon Sim that wiped out a 4-2 deficit. Sim tied it with 2:13 left in regulation with his first goal since being placed on waivers last week.
Ovechkin ended it with a snapper past Joey MacDonald, Washington's 40th shot of the game and his 19th goal this season. He gave the Capitals a 4-2 lead with 3:25 left in the second period.
Boyd Gordon and Brooks Laich scored in the first period, and defenseman Milan Jurcina added a goal in the second.

Kovalev scored a short-handed goal for the Canadiens and Guillaume Latendresse connected on a penalty shot. Montreal has lost three in a row.
Maple Leafs 3, Devils 2, SO: At Toronto, Vesa Toskala stopped Travis Zajac on a breakaway in the final seconds of overtime and Jason Blake had the winning goal in a shootout to lead Toronto over New Jersey.
Nik Antropov and Jeremy Williams scored in regulation for the Maple Leafs, who have won three straight for the first time this season. Toskala finished with 25 stops.
Williams also converted in the shootout. Patrik Elias had the Devils' only successful attempt.
