MANILA — The peaking San Miguel Beermen snapped the four-game winning streak of the league-leading Barako Bull Energy while soaring to their fourth straight win, 116-113, Wednesday night in the 2015 PBA Governors' Cup. With both teams coming out with all guns ablaze, exchanging volleys of long-range bombs all night long, SMB, this season's Philippine Cup champion, relied on its defensive tenacity and championship poise in the endgame to defeat a surging Barako Bull squad playing at its highest level. Ronald Tubid came off the bench to score 12 of his 13 points total in the fourth period that saw the Beermen turn a nine-point deficit into a 105-99 lead heading into the homestretch. But Barako Bull's Joseph Yeo and 7'2” import Liam McMorrow ignited a 6-0 run to tied the game at 107-all. After McMorrow split his charities, SMB's Marcio Lassiter and Barako Bull's JC Intal swapped three-pointers, giving the Energy their final taste of the lead, 111-110. SMB import Arizona Reid then scored on a jumper to put SMB back in the driver's seat, 112-111, with 32 seconds left. Yeo then fired but missed, forcing Barako Bull to foul Reid with just six seconds left. The Bob Marley-haired import sank both free throws to give SMB a three-point lead with about three seconds left. After a Barako Bull timeout, Dylan Ababou got the pass and fired a triple from the left corner, but Reid was there to block the shot. Reigning league MVP June Mar Fajardo then sank two free throws to seal the victory for SMB. Alaska 92, Star 86 The Alaska Aces beat Star Hotshots, 92-86, for their fourth win in five games.
