JEDDAH — Orders have been issued to terminate the services of six judges in various parts of the Kingdom under measures taken by the disciplinary unit of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The termination included a judge at a Court of Appeals and another holding the position of undersecretary at a “B” classified court. Two of the fired judges were ranked “A” and the other two were of “B” rank. One of the latter two had been absent from work for about five years. Court sources said the performance of the six judges following a routine judicial inspection was considered to be “low and substandard”. The judges in all the Kingdom's courts are subject to periodical inspections throughout the year. The inspection covers their general performance and how quickly they consider cases. The inspection is carried out by senior judges and includes complaints raised to the SJC. This is in addition to the automatic inspection of proceedings and timings of court sessions.
