Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Wednesday said they have agreed to enhance cooperation in all fields. In a joint communique issued a day after the two countries finalized demarcation of their borders and signed agreements to foster cooperation on political, military and security issues, as well as business, economy, and media, the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council said the two sides showed identical points of view on several regional and international issues, SPA said. The communique called for further consolidation of bilateral relations through the ratification of six agreements. Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Interior, led the Saudi delegation to the council's meeting while Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Heir-Apparent of Qatar, led his country's side to the meeting. Relevant ministers from the two sides took part in the meeting. They reviewed the situation in the region as well as regional and international developments of mutual concern, calling for intensification of coordination, consultation and joint action to reach targeted goals for the interests of the peoples of the two neighboring GCC countries. Bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them were also discussed. In this context, the two sides signed the minutes of the first meeting which covered bilateral cooperation between authorities concerned in the two countries in a number of vital fields, including political, military, security, economic, financial, commercial, industrial, investment, cultural, information, air transportation, endowments, Islamic affairs, environment, health, municipal, constructional planning, transport, infrastructure, and energy fields in addition to cooperation between the private sectors represented by the chamber of commerce and industry in each country. The two sides also welcomed the land and maritime border agreement between the Kingdom and Qatar and the two maps annexed to them which were signed in Jeddah on July 5, 2008. The participants also welcomed the signing of Memorandums of Understanding for political consultation and coordination between various ministries of the two countries The council extended thanks to and appreciation of the leaderships of the two countries for their great support for the council's efforts and their strong keenness to make it a success. The Qatari side also expressed thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to its leader and accompanying delegation. It has also offered to host the council's next meeting in Doha next year. __
