Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman is being received by Makkah Emir Prince Khaled Al-Faisal at King Abdulalziz International Airport in Jeddah, Thursday. Also present were Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior; Prince Faisal Bin Salman, emir of Madinah; Prince Mishaal Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah; several senior princes and officials. — SPA Saudi Gazette report Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman was accorded a warm welcome in Jeddah as he arrived in the city Thursday afternoon from Riyadh. The Gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and the Bride of the Red Sea was spruced up to receive the Monarch who landed in the city for the first time after ascending the throne in January. More than 1,000 green flags of Saudi Arabia fluttered along the city's major thoroughfares, squares and landmarks, expressing the love, loyalty and respect to the ruler of the nation. Around 600 flex boards of the King have also been raised across the city to welcome the King who chose Jeddah as the first city to visit after becoming the monarch, according to Jeddah Mayor Hani Abu Ras. “The streets of Jeddah have been illuminated with different colors on a total area covering 4,000 sq. meters. The Globe Square on the Corniche has been decorated with a huge picture of the King by using the 3D MAP system,” he said adding that there are also scores of flex boards carrying group pictures of the King, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, and Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense. The people of Jeddah and other governorates of Makkah province are making elaborate preparations to felicitate the King, the crown prince and deputy crown prince. King Salman will visit Makkah to perform Umrah and inspect the progress of the ongoing largest ever expansion in the history of the Grand Mosque. Earlier, King Salman opened a number of medical projects on the premises of the Ministry of the National Guard in Riyadh. The projects include King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children and King Abdullah International Center for Medical Research and Central Laboratory. King Salman toured King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children and met with a number of patients in the special care unit and was reassured of their health and the medical care being provided to them. He was also briefed on the emergency department and met with consultants. Then the King attended the function to mark the opening of the projects held at King Saud University's building for health sciences. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Miteb Bin Abdullah, minister of the National Guard, hailed the King's presence to launch the projects as an evidence of his keenness in the health of citizens and the development of the health sector as well as his commitment to improve medical services in the country. Prince Miteb said the 600-bed King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children, spread over a total area of 192,000 sq. meters, consists of three 11-story medical towers.
