Members of the Executive Board of the Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) signed a mutual cooperation convention with the Executive Committee of the European Civil Aviation in Paris on Tuesday. The convention entails aviation cooperation for the period from 2009 to 2011. Prince Turki Bin Faisal Al-Saud, Vice Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation for International Organizations Affairs, headed the Saudi delegation. Several civil aviation issues of common interest were discussed during the meeting. After signing the convention, Prince Turki pointed out that the convention aims at exchanging relevant information and experience in order to enhance civil aviation cooperation in the Arab world and Europe. “The convention deals with cooperation in the areas of aviation security and air safety, environment and air transport,” he said. He added that the convention also included holding workshops to ensure a high level of safety for aircrafts and workshops on the investigation of aviation accidents, as well as a series of workshops in the fields of operational and technical aviation security and environmental safety. Prince Turki also said the meeting discussed liberalization of air transport to ensure the development of passenger traffic and air cargo.
