MADRID — Spanish police say a man has killed his sister and brother in street shootings in the Canary Island of Gran Canaria. Police spokesman Felix Ruiz said the 50-year-old man opened fire on his 42-year-old sister with a shotgun around 7.30 a.m. Wednesday in the island capital of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Some 20 minutes later he shot dead his 47-year-old brother in the street in a town just south of the capital. The woman died later in a hospital. The man was detained, and Ruiz said police found the shotgun believed to have been used in the killings. Ruiz said police had no information on possible motives for the shootings. He said all three were Spaniards and residents of Gran Canaria, located off the northwestern coast of Africa. — Agencies
