Graduating Saudi university students, including 1,290 from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), will have an opportunity to see what the job market has to offer during the two-day KFUPM Open Day for Employment Program on Dec. 20-22. Some 100 leading local and international companies will participate in the event, which has become an annual occasion for business organizations to recruit young Saudis. The Open Day is intended for KFUPM university graduates, but is also made available to graduates of other universities. “Graduating students will have the chance of meeting future employers and of making comparisons of the compensation and incentives packages that are being offered which will help them make initial job choice decisions,” said Dr. Tala Alkharobi, KFUPM Assistant Dean for Employment and Training. “The event will help students prepare themselves for getting the best jobs, with companies giving them pointers, conducting interviews and giving examinations,” he said. The leading companies that will be offering job opportunities during the event include Saudi Aramco, the SABIC affiliated companies, Saudi Electricity Company, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Marafiq, Saline Water Conversion Company, companies within the 100 top business groups, international companies (particularly those engaged in the energy sector and construction), Saudi banks, and large trading establishments. “The firms taking part in the event are all top companies which can offer good salaries, provide incentives, and make available training programs for young Saudi graduates,” Dr. Al-Kharobi said. The event will be held at the KFUPM Exhibit Center. It will be open to students and visitors from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M.
