Qatar Coordination Council meeting here on Tuesday has generated high expectations among media and cultural figures in the Kingdom. These figures look at the meeting as a step forward for strengthening the distinctive bilateral relations in all aspects, particularly in the cultural field. Dr. Fahd Bin Abdullah Al-Samari, Secretary General of King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Archives and Information, said “The Saudi Qatari Coordination Council under the umbrella of the GCC has a pressing need to rejuvenate common characteristics between the two countries besides enhancing cooperation in the environmental fields and elevating cooperation at global levels on political, economic, cultural and media tracks.” He said the deep-rooted social links between the two Muslim nations and the common Islamic and Arab history would further boost the noble objectives of the Council in the service of the two countries within the GCC. Dr. Abdullah Al-Washmi, Deputy Chairman of Makkah Literary Council, said the common geographical factors distinguishing the two countries serve as a significant cultural characteristic linking them, SPA said on Monday. He hoped that the Council chalks out common policies and principles of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in all political issues of mutual concern besides consolidating diplomatic and security cooperation. He said the agreement between the two countries allowing their citizens to travel by using their IDs would further push social and cultural communication. Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Interior Minister and the Council's Deputy Chairman and Sheikh Tameem Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatari Heir-Apparent, will preside over the meeting. The Council is tasked with developing bilateral relations in political, security, financial, economic, commercial, investment, cultural and media areas and other aspects of interest to the two countries. __
