JEDDAH — The municipality completed recently a field inspection tour at a cargo area in south Jeddah where second hand products were being stored and documented a series of violations. They noted the use of unauthorized store areas and employment of overstayers who were using the area and containers to store second hand products. Other violations also included the use of 24 heavy vehicles that were causing traffic congestion in the area. A further 11 unauthorized storage facilities were also removed. The Al-Jama'a Branch Municipality said it has cooperated with companies to clean the area as well as remove violating vehicles. It added that secondhand clothes stored at these locations were removed because they constituted a fire hazard. The investigations also covered restaurants in the area to ensure they were following safety measures. The municipality also removed all unauthorized kiosks and prosecuted violators. It cut power to violating stores.
