DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates says its planned 2020 mission to Mars will study the planet's atmosphere and will be appropriately named “Hope.” The UAE team behind the project revealed new details on the probe Wednesday. “Hope” — or “Al-Amal” in Arabic — is the Arab world's first space probe to Mars and will take seven to nine months to reach the red planet, arriving in 2021. Emirati scientists hope the unmanned probe will provide a deeper understanding of the Martian atmosphere, and expect it to remain in orbit until at least 2023. Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum announced plans for the mission last year. Officials have not said how much it will cost. — AP
