JEDDAH — Zamil Structural Steel Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Zamil Industrial Investment Co. (Zamil Industrial), was recently awarded a contract worth SR43.8 million ($11.7 million) by the SK Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. to supply various structural steel products for the Package 9 of Jazan Refinery and Terminal Project in the southern region of Saudi Arabia. The contract calls for the fabrication and supply of a large tonnage of pipe racks, equipment support structures, platforms, shelters, and other steel products for Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery, which will be the mainstay of a new economic city, and will contribute to the fulfillment of economic development objectives in Jazan. When completed in late 2016, the refinery will have the capacity to process 400,000 barrels per day. The additional refined products from the new facility will satisfy the growth in domestic demand within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Jazan refinery and terminal project will also be coordinated with a large integrated gasification combined-cycle plant, which is set to be operational in 2017.
