The New Jersey Devils blew a four-goal lead before recovering to beat the New York Rangers 8-5 on Friday, beating their NHL neighbor for the first time in 12 games. New Jersey appeared to have things well in hand with a three-goal second period that created a 5-1 lead. The Devils took advantage of the Rangers' power play that generated two short-handed goals for New Jersey and nothing for New York in nine opportunities. But New York stormed back to tie the game at 5-5 in the third period. That spurred the Devils, as Patrick Elias put Jersey back in front just 11 seconds after they conceded the equalizer, and within four minutes it was 8-5.
