Samsung shows security solutions for enterprise mobility management

SAMSUNG HHPs (hand-held products) team has successfully concluded a recent workshop on Samsung devices and the accompanying Samsung KNOX mobile security solution that enable business and personal content to coexist on the same handset.
The KNOX service is part of "Samsung Approved For Enterprise" (SAFE) offerings for smartphones and tablets. It is basically intended for B2B usage and co-works with SOTI, the world's most trusted provider of Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions.
The workshop dubbed "Enterprise Mobility Management with Samsung S6 edge” held at Al Faisaliah Hotel Riyadh recently was aimed at delivering to Samsung's B2B customers the advantages and benefits of the new Samsung mobile devices, especially its new flagship S6 edge, and the underlying security solution, KNOX, for B2B purpose or Enterprise deal.
With the prevalent trend of using personal mobile devices for work-related purposes increase, Samsung KNOX solves the challenge of managing both the personal and corporate data on the owner's mobile device while ensuring corporate data security and not compromising the user experience.
KNOX technology enables user/owner to access corporate data while protecting both the corporation and the person/employee through an approach that segments personal from corporate information at the operating system (OS) level.
It also helps to protect the employee's privacy by fully supporting the containerization of corporate data without adversely affecting the user experience for the employee's personal device.
During the workshop, technical experts from ShasTech, Samsung Electronics authorized maintenance provider in Saudi Arabia for its mobile phone and tablet products, joined hands with Samsung engineers in providing technical information and support about the new devices and assistance in further exploring the details of both the device and the solution for better results.
Samsung Electronics Saudi Arabia took the opportunity to present and discuss the salient features of the Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy TAB Active (Ruggedized tablet), and KNOX.
The Galaxy S6 edge has a new aluminum design, reflective surface, Theme options preference, 1.5 times stronger than other devices, and is the only device with an extended edge screen, among others.
Galaxy Tab Active is built for business, with anti-shock/ data and software protection, water and dust proof and can remain for 30 minutes at 1m depth water.
Though it is not made for diving, it is but perfect if in case water or coffee was spilled by accident. It has also a 5.0-inch TFT panel with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.
Moreover, at the workshop, it was also revealed that for better enterprise solution, Samsung is co-working with SOTI, a Canada-based company and an international provider, as a MDM (mobile device management) provider.
SOTI representative presented their solutions in terms of device management. And participants at the workshop were given a thorough understanding about the versatile KNOX solution.
KNOX software creates a container inside the device for security and protection from any malware of breach. It creates another private mobile within your device, complete with its home screen, apps, and widgets.
In the Samsung KNOX container, one can use preloaded Samsung KNOX applications as well as applications from Samsung KNOX APPS. However, for security reasons, there may be restrictions on moving data into and out of the Samsung KNOX container and some applications may have their features restricted.
In addition, the participants at the workshop were told that SOTI Mobicontrol MDM solutions allow organizations to empower enterprise mobility through support for corporate-liable and bring your own device (BYOD) policies. SOTI MobiControl solves the unique challenges involved in managing, securing, supporting, and tracking mobile and desktop computing devices across all platforms.
Mobicontrol allows the company to manage the device from afar (it can upload, download, it can lock or unlock the device, it can also limit what Apps employees can use.
The company can also track as well the devices location in the present and in the past where it went, as well as many other benefits that companies can utilize for better management of the device.
