Based in Dubai, Pixelbug company develops advanced augmented reality applications.
”We have been in business for three years working mostly with blue chip multinational companies such as P&G, Nestle and Lego. We are currently moving away from a project based model to a more product oriented one with the imminent release of our stand alone application called colorbug,” Dany Eid, founder of Pixelbug told Saudi Gazette.
”We're currently launching an edutainment app called colorbug. The app magically brings storytelling and coloring books to life by using advanced augmented reality technology.
We are targeting parents and their kids who are between 4-10 years old. The app helps kids become smarter and more creative by allowing them to develop their motor skills and their imaginations,” he added.
Pixelbug is launching the app with stencils that provide fun facts about animals in a educational and interactive way. ”We chose animals because we found that animals appeal to both girls and boys. In the future we will be releasing content that teach about important landmarks, astronomy, dinosaurs etc. However, our main approach will be to allow kids to choose which content they'd like us to develop by crowdsourcing topics on our website,” Eid said. The purpose of colorbug is to inform and educate kids about various topics in fun and interactive ways. However, Eid explained the purpose is also to build stronger bonds between parents and their children by having them do a familiar coloring activity together while introducing an innovative technology that keeps kids engaged during family time.
The app provides high caliber innovation and feature film 3D content and animation in a simple manner and user-friendly user interface. It is available in two langages, Arabic and English allowing fun interactions with characters and 3D printing.
It will be available on both Apple and Android devices including smartphones and tablets. The stencils can be printed at home via the app or website, www.colorbug.ae
