MADRID — Valencia recaptured fourth place in La Liga from Sevilla when Sofiane Feghouli scored the pick of the goals in a 4-0 stroll at home to second-from-bottom Granada Monday. Sevilla's 2-0 success at home to Rayo Vallecano Sunday had edged it ahead in the battle for Spain's fourth Champions League berth, which carries a place in qualifying for Europe's elite club competition. Valencia, which missed out on a lucrative place in continental competition last season, crushed a weak Granada side apparently doomed to relegation, with Javi Fuego, Dani Parejo and substitute Alvaro Negredo also on target at the Mestalla. Algeria forward Feghouli finished off a superb move for Valencia's third goal, curling the ball into the top corner after Negredo's first-time pass sent him clear on the left of the penalty area. Valencia has 68 points with five games left, two ahead of Sevilla and four behind third-placed champion Atletico Madrid. Barca leads on 81 points, with Real Madrid two adrift of its archrival in second. Bournemouth ‘promoted' Bournemouth effectively sealed promotion to the Premier League for the first time in its 116-year history after a 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers Monday, sparking joyous scenes for a club which almost went out of existence in 2009. The Cherries have a superior goal difference that makes it virtually impossible for the south-coast club to be overtaken by Middlesbrough for the second automatic promotion place, even if it loses its final match. Watford was promoted from the Championship Saturday. Promotion to the Premier League is expected to bring a potential cash boost of more than 120 million pounds ($182.23 million) to a club who six years ago was mired in financial turmoil. Odegaard named in Real squad Norwegian teenage sensation Martin Odegaard could make his first appearance for Real Madrid when the European champion hosts Almeria Wednesday after being included in Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the first time. Madrid beat off stiff competition from around Europe to land the 16-year-old in January, but his time with the first team has since been limited to training sessions, while he has played with the reserve team Real Madrid Castilla in the third tier of Spanish football. However, with Los Blancos blighted by injuries and suspensions, Ancelotti hinted that Odegaard could get his first run out at the Santiago Bernabeu. “Tomorrow in the squad there will be three youth team players,” the Italian said Tuesday. “Odegaard, (Borja) Mayoral and Diego Llorente. I think two of the three will be on the bench and they could get an opportunity to play.” Madrid will again be without the injured Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric, while Dani Carvajal and Sergio Ramos sit out due to suspension. However, Ancelotti is hopeful that Bale will be fit to face the daunting trip to Sevilla Saturday, whilst Benzema could return in time for next week's Champions League semifinal, first leg away to Juventus. — Agencies
