Estrella ousts Troicki in Munich

MUNICH — Victor Estrella Burgos advanced to the second round of the BMW Open by beating Viktor Troicki 7-6 (4), 6-4 Monday.
In the other main-draw match, wild-card entry Alexander Zverev rallied to beat Benjamin Becker 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, hitting 11 aces.
Bellucci beats Youzhny
In Istanbul, Thomaz Bellucci defeated seventh-seeded Mikhail Youzhny 7-6 (5), 6-3 Monday in the opening round of the inaugural Istanbul Open.
Bellucci served six aces to eliminate Youzhny. Andrey Golubev swept past wild card Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1, 6-3 in the other main-draw match.
Roger Federer is the top-seeded player in the event, one of the clay tournaments leading up to the French Open. He could meet Grigor Dimitrov in the final.
Zhang upsets Kuznetsova
In Prague, two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia was eliminated in the first round of the Prague 6-4, 6-3 Monday on a day of upsets.
Another unseeded player, Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic, upset sixth-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the second round.
The 18-year-old Czech will play Polona Herzog of Slovenia, who overcame Heather Watson of Britain 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (5) in a match that took more than three hours.
Also, fifth-seeded Alize Cornet of France advanced to the second round by defeating wild-card entry Kristina Schmiedlova of Slovakia 6-3, 6-3.
Coric advances
In Portugal, teenager Borna Coric secured the first upset of the week at the re-launched Estoril Open Monday with his 6-2, 6-4 knockout of French sixth seed Jeremy Chardy.
Dutchman Robin Haase won his fourth match of the season and first on clay with a defeat over Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4.
Haase now moves to the second round, to face Spain's Feliciano Lopez, playing as a tournament top seed for only the fourth time in his career.
Schmiedlova thru
In Morocco, seventh-seeded Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia and 97th-ranked Lara Arruabarrena of Spain won their opening matches at the Grand Prix SAR clay-court tournament Monday.
Schmiedlova beat Silvia Soler-Espinosa of Spain 6-4, 6-4, and Arruabarrena defeated Kurumi Nara of Japan 7-6 (3), 6-4 to reach the second round at the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech. They were the only two main-draw matches of the day. — Agencies
