Sony new Handycam delivers 4K clarity, details in 1 package
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 04 - 2015

SONY, a worldwide leader in digital imaging, has introduced its most compact 4K Handycam camcorder to date - the FDR-AXP35.
The FDR-AXP35 is approximately 30% smaller and 20% lighter than the existing FDR-AX100, expanding the appeal of 4K to an ever-wider audience with unparalleled imaging power that fits comfortably in your hand.
It is Sony's first 4K camcorder featuring Balanced Optical SteadyShot (B.O.SS) for satisfyingly blur-free footage when you're shooting handheld.
This powerful image stabilization system keeps 4K video exceptionally smooth and stable, from wide angle to telephoto.
You'll enjoy steadier, pro-style footage – even if you're zooming in for tight close-ups when shaky pictures can pose a big problem.
Satoru Arai, Head, Sony Middle East Marketing Company, said: “Today the popularity of 4K continues to gain momentum and Sony has reiterated its leadership status in 4K by delivering the best in this technology across platforms and the entire range of our products and services.
Making 4K the mainstream segment for video recording, our new 4K Handycam brings the wonders of 4K personal content creation to a wider audience than ever before by enabling customers to produce their own stunning 4K content.
It's the ultimate choice for families looking to capture and preserve all their precious memories in the highest possible quality.”
The new FDR-AXP35 Handycam records using the advanced and efficient XAVC S video format at an extremely high bit rate of 100 Mbps , allowing each frame to be packed with extraordinary detail and with minimal distortion thanks to high speed sensor readout.
For the more advanced videographers, the new 4K camcorder includes a customizable manual ring and manual button that can be assigned to key functions such as zoom, focus and exposure adjustments.
The camera is also equipped with a high-performance electronic viewfinder approximately three times the resolution of previous models, and a beautiful 3.0-inch Wide Xtra Fine LCD WhiteMagic display that performs admirably in all shooting environments including bright sunlight.
Post shooting, instant on-the-spot video playback is made possible with the camcorder's built in projector (50 lm).
4K video content shot with the FDR-AXP35 camcorder can be played back directly on a compatible 4K television through the supplied HDMI cable, or if super-sampled Full HD is connected to an HDTV.
The camcorder can also ‘trim' 4K images from video frames, enlarging a chosen portion of the frame to fill the screen with Full HD quality.
In this mode, trimming size can be changed with zoom lever or on-screen icon . Also, with the support of 4K still image capture, users can extract and save 8.3MP still images from 4K movie footage without impacting the impressive video quality.
The Sony 4K Handycam line-up also features the FDR-AX30. There are also several exciting new introductions for the Full HD camcorder line-up from Sony, including the HDR-PJ670, HDR-PJ410 and HDR-CX405 models, bringing stunning HD video recording and image stabilization technologies to a variety of Handycam customers.
The entire 2015 Handycam lineup features XAVC S 50Mbps high-bitrate recording and either Balanced Optical SteadyShot (B.O.SS) or Optical SteadyShot with Intelligent Active mode, ensuring video footage is highly-detailed and blur-free.
With a widest angle of 26.8mm, the lens lets users capture large groups of subjects with ease. A built-in projector on selected models allows for instant playback of saved videos on large surfaces, and an HDMI input allows the projector to play content from smartphones, tablets and other compatible devices. — SG
