NEW YORK — Carl Hagelin scored with 9:08 remaining in overtime as the New York Rangers clinched their first-round playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins after scoring a 2-1 overtime victory Friday. The Rangers won the best-of-seven series 4-1 and will face the winner of the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals series in the second round. Derek Stepan also had a goal for the Rangers while goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 37 shots. Nick Spaling scored for the Penguins in the second period on a score that was reviewed in Toronto and stood. Pittsburgh was backed by goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury's 34 stops. The Penguins had reached the second round of the playoffs in their previous two seasons. Senators 5, Canadiens 1 Two first-period goals paced the Ottawa Senators to a win over the Montreal Canadiens in the first-round playoff series. The win cut Montreal's lead to 3-2, with Game 6 scheduled for Sunday in Ottawa. Right wingers Bobby Ryan and Erik Condra, left winger Mike Hoffman and defensemen Patrick Wiercoch and Erik Karlsson scored for Ottawa. Goaltender Craig Anderson stopped 45 shots for the Senators. Defenseman Tom Gilbert had the Canadiens' goal. Carey Price made 20 saves for Montreal. The Canadiens came out firing, taking the first seven shots on goal before the Senators got their first nearly nine minutes in. But once they did, things fell in their favor. Wild 4, Blues 1 Stopping 36 shots, including all 19 he faced in the third period, goaltender Devan Dubnyk helped Minnesota take a lead in their Western Conference quarterfinal series with a decision over the St. Louis Blues. The Wild lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 and can clinch the series Sunday in Minnesota. Pulled in a 6-1 loss 48 hours earlier after yielding all six goals on just 17 shots, Dubnyk was back in the form that enabled him to lift the Wild from a losing team at midseason to a playoff squad.
