Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — A Saudi soldier was killed and others were slightly injured in fighting along the Kingdom's southern border, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, spokesperson of the coalition forces and adviser at the office of the minister of defense, said here on Saturday. Addressing a media briefing, he said there had been continuous fighting from Friday afternoon until late that night along the frontier in the southwestern region of Najran. He said the Houthis are moving heavy military machinery from Sanaa toward the north of Yemen. The coalition forces are following these movements and destroying the machinery. He said Houthis are putting checkpoints on border posts between Yemen and the Kingdom as well as at airports and seaports, arresting citizens who support legitimacy. They have kidnapped relief workers in Lahj, Asiri said, adding that Red Cross employees are being harassed. They have issued forged permits to airlines so that planes can enter airspace at points that are not permitted. Asiri said relief operations in Yemen are progressing well to improve the situation of Yemenis on the ground. He said the UAE and Qatar have donated four planeloads of relief material and foodstuff. These are being shipped from Djibouti to Aden and Hodeidah. He said several other consignments of relief material will be shipped to Yemeni ports. Asiri valued Djibouti's initiative to open its air and sea space for the coalition command to carry out relief and humanitarian operations. Yemeni tribesmen are helping in the distribution of relief material to the needy, he said.
