Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, spokesperson of the coalition forces and adviser at the office of the minister of defense, praised a UN arms embargo imposed on Tuesday as a “victory for the Yemen people.” He told reporters that the United Nations “sees the dangers in Yemen” and its action is a complement to what the coalition is doing militarily. “The United Nations vote today was a victory for the Yemen citizens before anyone else,” he said. Asiri said a number of brigade commanders at the Yemen's armed forces returned to the fold of legitimate government by pledging their allegiance and support. He praised the positive gesture of the Yemeni commanders and urged all the remaining brigades and army units to follow suit. Those who pledged loyalty to the government, led by President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi, included armored brigade 315 with all its armed personnel, brigade 111 and brigade 11 under the Border Guards. “These forces have realized their responsibility toward Yemen and its citizens,” he said. Asiri said there will be more efforts in making available relief supplies to Yemeni citizens over the coming 24 hours. The coalition forces targeted on Tuesday a vocational institute in Al-Baida that was misused by Houthis as their camp as well as another camp in Sanaa. “Houthis are still engaged in vandalism within the districts in Aden, Crater, Moalla and the coastal road,” he said, hoping that this would come to an end with cutting of their supply lines completely. “The coalition forces continue extending logistic support to the popular resistance committees in Aden,” he added.
