JEDDAH — Al-Mostaqbal Hospital team of coach Rey Tupas bounced back from its opening loss by scoring over Al-Salam International Hospital 99-97 in the Mandhoubiyah–Peak Basketball Tournament at the Khalidia basketball court here recently.
The winner regrouped after its earlier defeat and executed its offense very well in the dying seconds. It depended on its main man Cornalez to shred the loser's defense in the final period. The plan paid off for the team. Cornales chipped in with 30 points for the winner and was adjudged the best player of the game and won a Tony Parker jersey, courtesy of Peak. Reggie scored 20 points for the loser.
This tournament is principally sponsored by Mandhoubiyah Islamic Propagation Office with the support of Peak Sodas Sports and Shoe Arena, ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel and Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi).
GNP–Asnan Est. team of coach Ronnie Carino beat Bupa–Friday Club 138-77. The winner enjoyed its home court advantage as it hardly missed a shot. A depleted loser, with only 7 players in the team, managed to challenge the winner in the first half but was a sorry lot in the latter part of the game.
Ofianza top scored with 28 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL best player of the game and received a Tony Parker jersey. Manalo hit 24 points for the loser.
Bakhsh Hospital won by default against King Abdulaziz Hospital.
