ITAJAI, Brazil — Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing won the fifth leg of the Volvo Ocean Race Sunday to extend its lead in the overall standings of the nine-month offshore sailing contest. Abu Dhabi, skippered by Ian Walker of Britain, arrived in Itajai, Brazil, just under 19 days after leaving Auckland, New Zealand, for its second stage victory of the race. The win leaves it seven points clear of Dongfeng Race Team after the Chinese boat was forced to pull out of the 6,776-nautical mile leg because of a fractured mast. Spanish boat MAPFRE came 32 minutes back in second place, with Turkish-American outfit Team Alvimedica in third. The sixth leg to Newport, Rhode Island, begins on April 19. The race ends in Gothenburg, Sweden, on June 27. — AP
