MAKKAH — The municipality here has removed all damaged and abandoned cars and car parts off of the streets of Al-Maabidah Al-Fariyah governorate. Al-Maabidah Al-Fariyah Municipality head Khalid Basfar said the municipality formed a special committee to clear the streets of damaged and abandoned cars as they obstructed traffic and were an eyesore. “The committee labeled 48 abandoned cars as ‘damaged' so the Traffic Department can proceed with their removal,” said Basfar. “The committee has also launched awareness campaigns to inform the general public of the ramifications of abandoning their damaged vehicles,” he added. He added people should abandon their cars in their respectful places such as junk yards and workshops to avoid endangering the general public and polluting their streets.
