DAMMAM — King Abdulaziz Seaport in Dammam was shut to both arriving and departing ships starting 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday due to bad weather conditions caused by the heavy sandstorm that hit the region. Director of public relations at the seaport, Khaled Bin Saad Al-Mutairi, said naval traffic was suspended because visibility was less than 200 meters. He said the port will resume operations as soon as weather conditions improve. The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) has also stopped trains from leaving or coming to Dammam out of concern for passengers' safety. The organization said it informed all passengers by SMS and e-mail messages to either change their travel schedule or ask for a ticket reimbursement.
