Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 04 - 2015

DUBAI — The third edition of GITEX Shopper Spring kicks off today (April 1) at Dubai World Trade Centre. The region's leading consumer IT and technology exhibition will bring together retail heavyweights with exclusive show offers and promotions on over 30,000 of the latest, coolest and best tech gadgets available on the market. The co-located Shopper Smart Living will also open its doors tomorrow, focusing on the latest in home and lifestyle appliances, lighting, security and energy conservation systems, white goods and more.
The biannual four-day event event offers shoppers unbeatable deals on everything from LED and HD TVs, to smartphones, tablets and even USB devices. High-end brands will be made affordable through great prices and countless bundle offers from over 100 big name brands and retailers, including E-City, Emax, Jacky's Electronics, Jumbo Electronics, Obi Mobiles, Plug Ins Electronix, Sharaf DG and Samsung Gulf Electronics.
“GITEX Shopper Spring was originally established to meet the growing demand for the latest tech gadgets and consumer electronics and has since grown into a key retail platform for retailers to showcase and launch the widest range of products, win new customers and gain insight on current and future consumer trends,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). “This year the new addition of Shopper Smart Living to the GITEX Shopper Spring offering, makes this an absolutely not-to-be-missed event for everyone who loves technology and a great deal or two.”
In addition to the endless number of bargains on offer, visitors will also have the chance to win more prizes and giveaways than ever. A range of Shop, Visit and Scratch and Win promotions will add to the excitement, with one lucky shopper winning a Mitsubishi Pajero Elite, just by visiting the show. Also up for grabs are solid bars of gold, Emax vouchers and a wide range of Samsung products from S4 smartphones and tablets, to microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, printers and monitors.
Proving GITEX Shopper Spring is one of the most entertaining shows around, ‘Dubai's Best Dancer' will be selected live on the final day of the show (April 4). Three finalists will dance-off on stage in front of the enthusiastic crowd, who will ultimately determine the winner. The winner will walk away with an AED10,000 voucher to spend at Emax Electronics, while other visitors can test their moves throughout the show for the chance to win great on the spot prizes.
Centrally located at the Dubai World Trade Centre, visitors have the option of arriving by metro which is conveniently located just meters from the door, or by car as there is ample parking for those driving. There are a number of food outlets and a range of interactive activities to ensure a great day out for the whole family.
GITEX Shopper Spring 2015 and Shopper Smart Living opens from 11a.m. – 11p.m. daily.
Meanwhile, in a bid to support Dubai Cares' initiatives to provide children in developing countries with access to quality primary education, Lenovo, the world's No.1 PC vendor, has launched the #Gold4Good online auction for the world's first ever 9 carat real solid gold laptop starting at the GITEX Shopper Spring 2015.
All proceeds will go to Dubai Cares, the philanthropic organization, launched in 2007 by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
The award-winning Yoga 3 Pro is an ultra slim 13-inch, convertible PC, which uniquely addresses users' desires for an extremely stylish device, best-in-breed performance capabilities and the hardware and software adaptability they crave. The device also provides an unbelievably thin and light frame with new watchband hinge design, a QHD+ screen and Harmony, Lenovo's intuitive software that adapts to users' personal preferences as they use the device in its different modes.
The online auction for the 9 carat solid gold Yoga 3 Pro will commence today (April 1) for two weeks with the opening bid starting at AED50,000 ($13,600).
Mohammed Hilili, General Manager at Lenovo Gulf & KSA, said “Lenovo has always been dedicated to improving education in developing nations and we are proud to be working with Dubai Cares, one of the finest philanthropic organizations in the UAE on this cause. We encourage bidders to ‘dig deep' and help us make this auction a highly worthwhile cause.” — SG
