My dad used to give SR 5 to SR 10 to as many as 10 street cleaners daily. He always said that they never asked for money. He gave it voluntarily. Fahd Khalid Kerry They do not force you to give them anything. They are very poor; they don't have even a single riyal to spend on themselves. They send all of their money to their families. If you can give, then don't hesitate. Mush Hussain What is the reason for the begging? These workers are paid between SR 400 to SR 700 per month. They can't even go home for two years. Most people spend SR 500 on their shopping and these poor people are forced to spent their salary in order to live. In other countries, residents pay a council tax which funds street cleaning and other services, so cleaners are paid a good salary to do a job that nobody else wants to do. Mark Fulwell They are cleaning our streets, collecting garbage and trying to keep our cities clean. Cleaning companies are paying them very low wages, so they receive charity from the public who offer it to them. But I have never ever seen them beg for anything from anyone. The cleaning companies should pay them a reasonable compensation, as they are really doing a great job. Anser Mehmood Awan A salary of SR500 to SR 700 salary is fair enough for the job they are doing. These people do not have any educational background. So do you want them to have the same salary as you? Then you will complain because your salary is the same as that of a street cleaner. After all they agreed to come here for that salary. These people are being paid to clean, but what do they do? They clean only the place near the traffic light the whole day, waiting to see if someone will give them money. Mohammed Farooq
