Munawarunnisa Nazneen Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Mavra, a non-profitable ladies social group, recently held its first program of the year dubbed "Hubbe Elahi" to reflect on the teachings of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at a local restaurant here. Tabassum Mohsin Alavi, founder of Mavra, and members of the group made the event successful with their support and active participation. The program started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an followed by a short speech by the founder of the group. Qaseed-e-Burda Sharif was also recited on the occasion. Alavi highlighted the work and motive of the group, and appreciated the assistance of various members. She also spoke about the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and his traditions. Religious scholars, prominent personalities were also invited to speak on the occasion. Saima Akram, wife of Consul Welfare General of Pakistan, was the guest of honor. Other important dignitaries included Dr.Rafat Ayesha, Sameera Aziz, Shakeela Majabadh, Shabdah Jameel Bushra Hamid, Nabeed Masood and people from the press. Sadia Kaleem, Rakshanda Puri, Noor Almas and Kubra Bintory were also present at the event. Samara Irfan, Itrat Farooqi, Arjuman Faheem, Ameera Irfan, Nousheen Majeed and Atya Manzoor recited poetry in the name of the Prophet (PBUH). Irfan delighted the audience with "Kabay Ki Rawnakh," Lubna Khalid mesmerized everyone by "Marhaba ya Mustafa" and "Mustafa Bemisaal," Farooqi in her wonderful voice recited "Kabay par padi jab nazr" and Irfana read "Salaam Aya." Saima Kareem, in her speech, explained talked about the "Kalma" where the Prophet (PBUH) name is accompanied with the name of Allah. She also spoke at length about the importance of the five daily prayers and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). Aziz spoke about how to handle the frustrated Islamophobes who are defaming the Prophet (PBUH) and Islam. She said that the true meaning of Jihad is not brutality, but is maintaining peace in the country. While quoting the Prophet (PBUH) narrations on how behavior and living, Aziz said that "if we follow Prophet (PBUH) and His teachings we can be progressive Muslims." Nabeed Masood explained about the importance of Tableekh. Shabdah Jameel from Riyadh explained about the lives of "Umm-e Hatul Momineen (the wives of the Prophet (PBUH)." The scholars in a graceful way explained the Prophet's (PBUH) hierarchy and the concept of Hijab. They urged everyone to follow the five pillars of Islam. The participants and the speakers were each gifted a copy of The Holy Quran. The event set a good example for the modern Muslim world and the Muslim youth.
