Sweden's Henrik Stenson holds a five-shot lead midway through the second round of the Sun City Challenge after play was called off for the day because of lightning at the Gary Player Country Club on Friday. Stenson had just completed the first nine holes in 34 strokes, two under par, with superb approach play bringing him birdies on the par-five second and ninth holes and on the par-four fifth. The 32-year-old followed up his course-record-equalling 63 on the first day by moving to 11-under-par overall. South African Rory Sabbatini, South Korean KJ Choi and European number one Robert Karlsson were the chasing pack trying to make a charge. Sabbatini also went out in 34 shots to move to six-under-par, while Choi and Karlsson both fired four birdies and did not drop any shots on their way to four-under-par overall. Play was halted at 1226 GMT and called off two hours later. Indian Masters dropped The Indian Masters, which was set to be played in New Delhi next February, was dropped from the 2009 European Tour schedule on Friday, becoming another victim of the global economic crisis. The tournament, which was also part of the Asian Tour, was set to take place from February 5-8 at the Delhi Golf Club. Singh takes lead India's Jeev Milkha Singh shot an even-par 70 Friday to take a one-stroke lead at the Nippon Series Cup golf tournament. Singh, who was tied for second after the first round, made five birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey in rainy conditions to hold the halfway lead at 6-under 134 at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club. Toshinori Muto (70) and Katsumasa Miyamnoto (71) were a further stroke back. Japanese teenager Ryo Ishikawa, who last weekend became the youngest golfer on the Japanese tour to reach $1 million in single-year winnings, shot a 69 and was two strokes off the lead. Aussies ahead Australians Jarrod Lyle and Mathew Goggin powered their way to a share of the halfway lead in the Australian PGA Championship on Friday. Lyle carded a course record equalling nine-under 63 to set the pace at nine-under 135 with Goggin, who carded a second round 68. The pair led joint first-round leader Paul Sheehan, who followed the six-under 66 that he completed on Friday morning with a 70 to stay in contention. Last weekend's Australian Masters champion Rod Pampling was among six players on seven-under 137 and two strokes off the lead after 36 holes. Former two-time major winner American John Daly missed the cut in this event for the second time. His five-over 77 on Friday left him in joint 96th place with four-over 148. Wie shares lead Michelle Wie, needing only a top-20 finish for a 2009 LPGA Tour berth, fired a seven-under par 65 Thursday to share the lead after the second round of a qualifying tournament at Daytona Beach. The 19-year-old Korean-American and Japan's Shiho Oyama each stood on 10-under par 134 after 36 holes in the five-day, 90-hole showdown over two courses, one stroke ahead of American Stacy Lewis, who had a 66 Thursday.
