Mohammad Dawood Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Ministry of Health is reevaluating 20 centers specified for the treatment of the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Command and Control Center chief Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed said the centers to be reevaluated include King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah, Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz in Riyadh and Dammam Hospital Medical Complex. “We decided to reevaluate the centers because some of them do not have the required capability and resources to deal with coronavirus cases,” said Saeed. “We haven't registered a single new coronavirus case for the past three days. “The decreasing rate of infections means our awareness campaigns and medical efforts are paying off,” he said, adding that there are currently 19 coronavirus patients in various hospitals and two are in isolation in their homes. “Our awareness campaigns focus on companies, schools and various public places. The ministry will not forgive any hospital for violating the strict prevention measures,” said Saeed. He added the Command and Control Center has inspectors assigned to most hospitals to ensure they follow the regulations every day. “Hospitals must take extra precautions and preventive measures when dealing with any contagious disease, let alone respiratory viruses and coronavirus. People should stay away from camels especially newborns and younger ones. They are more infectious than older camels,” said Saeed.
