Geely launches GC7 sedan in Saudi Arabia
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 03 - 2015

HAJI Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd has launched three models of Geely GC7 class in Saudi Arabia at a very competitive price ranges from SR29.999 to SR38.999. Geely GC7 is well-known to consumers worldwide for its value and high levels of equipment. The compact sedan car GC7 is the best Geely car in terms of performance and sales. The car is sold as an international product worldwide including Europe, Russia, South America and China.
Engineering and Design for the GC7 happened in Geely Auto's Hangzhou Research and Development Center with a global team of engineers having considerable input on the vehicle. The GC7 was developed from the ground up with safety, technology, and value at the forefront of the vehicles development. Safety has always been paramount within Geely Auto, the GC7 was developed to exceed C-NCAP crash testing standards whilst also providing a superior comfort level at this price point. Electronic safety functions such as ABS and EBD are available as standard across the range as well as parking radars and rear view cameras on higher trim level versions. All of the GC7 range comes with anti-theft equipment as standard.
The GC7's design is focused on being compact yet spacious – large enough to have considerable road presence despite its compact sizing and spacious enough seat five in comfort. The GC7's compact sizing measures in at (LxWxH) 4547 x 1734 x 1470mm with a wheelbase of 2600mm. When developing the interior, Geely Auto engineers and designers focused on putting technology within the grasp of the driver and passengers; digital speedometers and odometers will give the driver immediate accurate feedback and a strong futuristic feeling.
The main dominating feature of the dashboard is the addition of a feature packed information system, music and media and also Bluetooth connectivity for phone connectivity – all of these features can be conveniently controlled from the steering wheel, meaning drivers can keep their entire focus on enjoying the journey. At the same time, the dark sports styling dashboard will enhance the ride with sports car overtones.
The vehicles front end was modeled around a Beijing Opera mask; a broad face with highly distinguishable features. The side profile is made up of concise and elegant lines that flow throughout the vehicle and emphasize the 16-inch wheels that come together to create a very sleek and stylish vehicle.
Powertrain for the GC7 comes from the Geely Auto global family, the 1.8L engine has been used in the Emgrand range throughout global markets and has been well received. The six-speed automatic transmission is supplied by the world's second biggest automatic transmission manufacturer, DSI transmission, which is also part of the Geely Holding Group family. The 1.8L engine utilizes four cylinders with CVVT technology to provide a powerful and comfortable driving experience. The 1.8L has a maximum power of 139 ps and produces 170Nm of torque at 3000RPM and returns considerable fuel efficiency.
Comfort levels within the GC7 are strongly improved with the introduction of leather seats on the premium range that offer strong levels of comfort. Lower models are equipped with comfortable and supporting cloth seats. ISOFIX anchors for child seats along with child locks have been installed to give parents piece of mind when choosing the GC7 as a safe daily driver for children. All of the product range is equipped with air conditioning systems, the higher levels come with automatic air conditioning systems to keep passengers cool at all times.
Geely Middle East Director Scott Qiu said: “The GC7 provides exceptional value for money considering the powertrain offered, the technology package and comfort levels. We are extremely confident the vehicle will be well received by the Saudi Arabian market, we have had strong success so far with the Geely brand here and we plan to continue going forward.”
Sheikh Ali Hussein Alireza, managing director of Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd, said: “We are pleased with the launch of a new product launch from Geely in the Saudi markets, and we are confident that Geely GC 7 will achieve the success achieved by Geely's other cars in Saudi Arabia in view of its many advantages and features. GC7 will join 6 other Geely models available in the market including the luxury family car EC8, the mid-size family car EC7, the compact sedan GC6, the small car Panda LC, the crossover car GX2 and the sports SUV car X7.”
During the event, managing director of Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd. Sheikh Ali Alireza presented the company's prize, a Geely car model EC7, to the winner of “Safe driving for safe life” initiative, which was organized by “BMG” for community service that supports noble goals in the world. The contest was won by Omar Alsabagh whom presented an article titled “A temporary nap save you from an eternal nap”, which was about the effect of drowsiness while driving which causes 36% of fatal traffic accidents. Sheikh Ali commented on the driving safe campaign by saying: “Geely concerns about safety is not fortuitous, but it is a key element in its production strategy, and clearly represented in the company's relentless quest for world safety certificates for Geely cars, where Geely cars got highest rating from the American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and got five-star safety certificate in New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP.”
He added: “Safety is of most concern for Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd. The company recently has adopted a slogan in its advertising campaigns targeting young people and urging them not to write text messages while driving.” He continued by saying:” I would like to congratulate the winner and wish everyone to abide by traffic rules to reduce the incidence of accidents and to comply by the slogan of “Safe driving for safe life” initiative.”
He noted that Geely GC 7 will be available in Geely's 20 showrooms kingdomwide, in addition to 3 new branches that will open soon in Aljubail, Alhofuf and Taif. — SG
