More than 15,000 fans kept social media busy during Drake's first concert in Dubai. The Canadian superstar is seen sharing candid and adventurous moments on social media since his arrival. His previous rap verses have expressed the desire to discover Dubai and during his first visit to Middle East's hottest destination, his friend Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum made sure Drake had a taste of ‘high life' Dubai. Drake is seen on luxury yachts, a Flyboard, helicopter, feeding a tiger among many other instagram pictures during his stay.
Dressed in white jeans and a t-shirt, the 28-year-old performer opened to the sound of his hit single Trophies. He tested and proved Dubai's ability to love and appreciate Hip Hop at its best on Saturday, 14th of March.
His chemistry with the crowd was no surprise, but Drake easily won Dubai's heart with his sincere repeated confessions of love for the city. He said Dubai's show was a “dream come true” and credited the audience as the best crowd on ‘Would You Like A Tour'. Perhaps also because of the supportive crowd that could not help but chant along to every song and rap verse, in an attempt to let Drake know he was home.
Even though it was a one-man show, Drake's supporting cast included his DJ, drummer and keyboard player. Rest assured, the crowd expected a few surprise performances and sure enough, Drake brought along his OVO crew and friends to perform, including O.B O'Brien. Drake felt right at home as he went on to dedicate songs to the city and expressed the need to “buy a house and live” there. With heart-pumping sounds, a chanting crowd and an electric vibe, he performed new tracks from his latest album “If You're Reading This It's Too Late,” which was released without any prior notice on Feb. 13. Drake helped revive memories as he played old hit singles such as ‘Headlines', ‘Best I Ever Had' and ‘The Motto'. He ended the show with ‘Started From the Bottom' with a graphic montage of his life's most memorable moments. Drake will perform in Amsterdam next week, before heading to California's Coachella Music Festival in April.
